Well it looks like efx is down again. Thank goodness for Vox!

This week was the first week of school. It has gone very well. This years 6th graders seem to be pretty well behaved and polite. Sadly I can't say that about past years. One year we has to classic jocks and popular girls that mad fun of everyone else who wasn't a jock or a popular girl. Last year we had a really rude and disrespectful bunch. When you call them over to you they would completely ignore you. This year is a refreshing change.

I had (emphasis on HAD) planned on a quiet weekend but due to the fall season closing in on us I decided to stain the lattice wall/divider we had built in the spring. Boy that was a tedious job that took over four hours to complete. Good thing we got really good stain. I will have to stain about every four years or so, unlike the deck we have to stain that every other year. Here is a pic. of what I stained this weekend. It doesn't look like fun does it?

I stained it by myself. Hubby was at work, girlchild at a picnic, boychild is too perfectionistic so it would have taken me 6 hours with his help.

Since yesterday was a busy day I am playing hookie from church today so I can have a little down time.

This week looks like it is going to be a hectic week. My mom goes in for knee replacement surgery on Tues. She has to be at the hospital at 6:30 a.m. the surgery is at 8:30. I will be at the hospital all day. Than of course everyday after the surgery I will be at the hospital to visit mom when I get off of work. Please keep her in your prayers. One time when she had surgery she 'coded' resulting in aborting the surgery. They still don't know why it happened. The surgeon was reluctant to do this knee replacement due to her having problems before but she is in so much pain and is completely unable to walk that he will proceede with the op. Believe me the Dr. has tried everything under the sun before deciding to operate!

Gosh darn it all a stupid raccoon has eaten the last of our big Koi! It is really heart breaking when you've had these fish for four years, raised them from itty bitty things just to have a stupid raccoon come along and have a snack. A raccoon got our other two a year ago.

My Mother in Law is turning 95 years old tomorrow! WOW. It is hard to believe. Just a year ago she wasn't expected to make it thru' a week but God had other plans. She not only 'made it' she is doing really well. She hasn't had an easy year being as her husband of 70 years passed away last November. She had to have a lot of firsts 'with out Rudy' her first Christmas without Rudy, first New Year with out Rudy etc. Tomorrow will be her first Birthday without Rudy yet she still smiles. She misses him dearly, we all do, but we are so glad she is still here.
To celebrate her Birthday we had a family reunion yesterday. Here are a couple of pictures of the Birthday girl:

I am really bumming out right now. I just can't shake it. Why you may ask? My son was baptized today at church and I wasn't there. You may wonder why I wasn't there. Well, I was for a while. Today, was our churches 4th Anniversary Celebration complete with church service, picnic and ending in a baptismal. My son went to church today intending to be baptized, I even brought my camera to capture the event, but during the picnic he decided he wasn't ready to be baptized. He even told the pastor he wouldn't be baptized today. Okay that's fine. I told him that he will know when he is ready and if that wasn't today that was okay. It was then time for the baptismal service, my son didn't even come into the church at that time. Fine. He probably didn't want to watch since he 'chickened' out (his words). I went in a watched a couple of people be baptized but started feeling really warm (no a/c in the church and it is a hot day today) and decided to go home (still boychild was not in the church when I left. I even check to see what he was doing and he was out talking with his friends). Being as my son wasn't going to do it there was no need to hang around. So girl child and I left. Well, I guess after they finished with the people that had planned on being baptized the Pastor asked if there was anyone else who wanted to. From what I hear about 20 more poeple went up but not my son. I guess at some point my son went in to watch.. Than the pastor asked again if there was anyone else. That's when my son raised his hand. The pastor asked for my husband and I to come up but guess what I was not there! Pastor asked where I was, hubby said that I had gone home. The Pastor said that was a shame that I was going to miss it. Ya thinK?! The pastor even had hubby do the actural baptizing!!!!!!!!!! I am devestated. What mother wouldn't want to be there?
When hubby and boychild came in I saw my son in his clothes all wet and I knew he did it. I first said 'oh my you did it' and started to cry. My son came in the house with a smile but when I started to cry his face fell to the floor. Crud, I not only missed him being baptized but not I made him feel bad for doing it without me being there. I tried to gather myself together and told him I was proud of him and I was very glad he did it but I was a little disppointed to miss it. He said that pictures were taken. I told him good that getting a picture of it would make me feel better. That seemed to make him feel better knowing a picture was good. I am actually glad there was a picture taken but still feel like I missed out on a very big deal in my sons life. It is right up there with missing a wedding or baby being born. Man, I will never get to see him be baptized again. You only do it once. I just feel cheated but I can't say anything to any one here without it being a downer to everyone else. So, I have to just suck it up and not let on how disappointed I really am.

What is the quickest false assumption people make about you?

Most people, when they meet me, think that I am aloof. Some people who haven't met me but have seen me 'around' think I am either always mad or unhappy. It is pretty funny because those impressions are further from the truth.

I am initially a little shy when I meet new people. I am NOT good at small talk or trying to think of conversation starters. So I may come across as aloof but really if you are the one to start a conversation you may regret it, I may never stop talking :) I will never be good at small talk and I usually don't respond well to it. I like good, deep and or fun conversations. I do not enjoy talking about the weather.

As for people thinking that I look mad or unhappy all the time, well.....hmmmm. I have one of those types of faces that can look mad or unhappy when I am expressionless. Some people have a pleasant look on their face no matter what and some when they are expressionless or not smiling or talking but just thinking or quite frankly nothing going on in their mind their face looks like they are not happy. It is hard to explain. Many times someone will ask me why I am mad and I will look at them puzzled and inform them I not mad but to them I look mad. Does that make sense. I really am a very happy, friendly and content person. I don't walk around with a goofy smile all the time. NOW that would get people talking :)

Yup it is 2:30 a.m. and I am still awake! This is the third night that I can't get to sleep. I hate this. Night time is pure torcher when I can't sleep. I wander the quiet house. I read stuff on the computer. I wander the house some more. All I want is sleep.

Okay I need to vent. This post will be random gripes and pet peeves. 

This summer girlchild and I have been going to the gym. We walk there everyday. The past week we have been seeing pooper scoop bags along the back side of a cement wall that has a sidewalk that goes behind it. We live on the street that has the access road that leads up to this sidewalk and cement wall. The sidewalk leads out to the main road/sidewalk. Anyway, why on earth would some one take the time to pick up their dogs crap with a baggie, tie it off and then just leave the sack of crap behind the wall? If they are going to go thru' the trouble to pick up the crap then they can take the crap home and put it in the trash! It is clearly the same person. The poop baggies are all the same kind. I appreciate that fact that they are conscientious enough to pick up after their pet but come on follow thru' people. Carry your little baggie home or to a trash can and throw it out. Don't leave it on a sidewalk!!

One to my next gripe, Today we went to the movies. We go only about twice a year. Once during the holidays because usually a drum student will give my husband movie tickets for a Christmas gift. And we go once during the summer. We saw Get Smart btw. When we go to the movies we usually buy large popcorn 'cuz they are refillable and we buy 4 pops. The theater was advertising different combos of popcorn and pop or popcorn, pop and hotdog along with others. They didn't have the price for any of the combos so I asked what the saving was for large popcorn, 2 large pops combo. The guy behind said "none" what!?!?!?! What is the point of advertising a 'combo'? He said "To make things faster. People can just ask for a #2 instead of 1 large popcorn and 2 large cokes". Being as I was in a really really bitchy mood I informed him that was stupid thing I have ever heard. The guy behind the counter just looked dumbfounded. THAN I find out that the large popcorn that use to have one free refill is now .50 cents for the refill! grrrrrr.

Now why was I in such a pissy mood today? Girlchild informs us that she thinks she left her hair straightener on in her room when we were parking the car at the theater! Great, just great. How am I suppose to relax when my house could burn down? SO, girlchild and hubby go back home while boychild and I go into the theater to get OUR tickets (I made girlchild pay for her and her dad for the incident) and buy all four of our popcorn and pop. Girlchild did in fact leave her straightener on and it had fallen into her trash can!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THANK GOD they went back home! They missed the first 10 mins of the movie. Girlchild is now without her straightener for two weeks along with having to pay for her and her dads movie tickets.

After the movie I needed to pick up some cottage cheese for a recipe I wanted to try for dinner tonight. I picked up the cottage cheese and noticed it was a smaller container. I asked the clerk where the 32 oz container of cottage cheese was. He told me that the cottage cheese is now in a 24 oz container. Again what!!?!?!?! But the price was the same as the 32 oz. The clerk said that rather than raise the price the dairy where the store gets their shipment of cottage cheese decided ‘shrink’ the cottage cheese containers. I told him that that was stupid. I not only do I  get less cottage cheese but I get to feel ripped off too! I heard this was happening with cereals but I guess it looks like we will be paying the same for less on about everything. On top of all this price gouging and product shrinking our state is considering a grocery bag fee! Yup you got it we will be charged for using paper or plastic. Not a big deal to me since I do use reusable bags but if I forget my bags I will be charged for using the stores grocery sacks.

Anyone else feeling as screwed, as I do, when shopping or going to the movies, buying gas while the gas companies are having record profits or just simply breathing? Geez. I should have never gotten out of bed today.

I went to the Dr. for my post op follow up. I told him about my tumble yesterday. He said it would take a heck a lot more to disturb or pull any of the sutures. He took a look at all my incisions and everything is healing as it should. He told me that I will feel pulling for a few more weeks cause there are sutures still in the muscles. Those take longer to dissolve. He also shared the lab report. I had 3 stones that were approx. 2 centimeters each! Along with a lot of smaller stones. They also found a polyp that was benign so no cancer. So all is well. My mind is now at ease regarding the fall. Some people are not meant to walk and talk at the same time...that would be me :)
Oh also since the surgery I have NOT had any indegestion, bloating, pain, chills, nausa or vomiting after eating!!!!!!!!I actually had pizza AND Baja Fresh this weekend (not the same day) and didn't suffer the consequences of eating any of it. Which could be a bad thing but for now it is a good thing. If you know what I mean ;)
